Recipes For Detox Diets That Help Clean Your System And Reduce Pounds
Why are recipes for detox diets so popular these days? Is it really necessary to cleanse your system to reduce ponds? Is detox even of any benefit
or are all these recipes for detox diets simply a fad? You may well be wondering!
Body cleansing diets seem to be all the rage right now; movie stars and regular folks alike are clapping their hands in joy over the benefits of cleaning out your body and ridding it of all those toxins we have spent a lifetime accumulating in our systems. Chemicals, preservatives, fats, hormones, insecticides, and the like tend to inhabit our bodies for years, and lots of folks claim that the key to feeling better, functioning the way nature intended, losing weight, and being healthier is to enjoy recipes for detox diets.
Detox is no longer for druggies or alcoholics any more. If you still think that, you are only partially right. Detox has entered a whole new phase. Detoxification diets have a completely different purpose. Formulas for detox diets are meant to clean your body’s elimination system of impurities from the food we eat and even the air we breathe. Generally, detoxification diets are designed to clean the colon and liver, where impurities tend to accumulate.
1. They cut out meat and refined starches:
The key to most blueprints for body cleansing diets is to include lots of fiber, lots of water, and eating veggies, nuts, fruits, and beans. What is missing from the above lists of foods? Meat! Meat intake needs to be reduced. What else is missing? Processed starches! Bread and pasta are notoriously absent when you are cleansing your bodies’ digestive system. There is some wisdom in it, but you have to think about it a little more.
2. Cleansing drinks are supposed to help:
Cleansing drinks are supposed to be a great way to give another boost to the healthy detoxification your body needs. Simply get some of your favorite fruits – berries are especially nutritious and delicious – and throw them in the blender with some purified water and ice. Whip them up until they are a thick-but-drinkable consistency, and you have an awesome breakfast or snack that will help your colon get rid of the yucky stuff that resides there.
A word of caution here though, too much fiber, and especially fruit can really be dangerous. You can develop diarrhea that can be life threatening if your stomach is not up to it. So, as with all detox ideas, do not go overboard.
3. Some soup recipes also work:
Soups of various kinds are also some of the recipes for detox diets that you can find. Gazpacho soup and alkaline diet soups are very frequently used for body and colon cleaning diets. Alkaline diets are those that rely heavily on vegetables, nuts, and legumes, all of which help move things along in the digestive system and thus, are beneficial ingredients for any soup recipe.
One particularly popular and tasty alkaline soup recipe is for a vegetable broth. You simply chop up celery, broccoli, spinach, and a zucchini into tiny pieces. Add them to a big pot of distilled water, and simmer for about a half an hour.
Then, run the ingredients through a strainer or colander, reserving the broth. All those natural vitamins remain in the water when you boil those veggies, which is why you should minimally steam your vegetables when eating them. In this case, you are after the broth, so it is okay to boil the heck out of the vegetables. Discard the chopped vegetables and drink the broth.
Each of these recipes for detox diets contain viable ingredients for helping you to lose weight and keeping your body’s elimination system working as it should.
Now, with all that having been said, I am not really convinced that your body is not capable of detoxifying itself just fine if you eat a healthy balanced diet. For people in poor health detox can be dangerous.
So, even though I'm telling you about it as one of the options, I'm not convinced. I know of people that have developed serious diarrhea while detoxing. There can also be other complications. Get your doctors permission first!

2. It is a starvation diet!

3. You will lose all energy:

You will begin to feel sluggish and you will not want to do the activities you normally would. You will begin to feel cold no matter how many blankets you use. In some cases people have reported dreaming about food and having food dancing in front of them when awake. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms your body is probably in starvation mood and mode. Your body is preserving energy at all cost for vital organ functions as it thinks there is a famine.
4. You are actually on it for a full month:
In addition the 3 day tuna diet has such a low calorie count that it is close to being a VLCD, or very low calorie diet. This diet gives the illusion of lasting for three days. The truth is you are on and off the diet for a full month.
5. It is not balanced at all:
For the most part the foods that you eat on the three day tuna diet aren’t balanced and therefore will most likely not help you lose any permanent weight. You are allowed some small amounts of fish and chicken, some peanut butter, a few vegetables and an apple for dinner. If you consider that, you then end your day with ice-cream; you can clearly see this is not a healthy diet choice.
6. You will almost certainly get food cravings:
You need to be aware the refined carbohydrates, which make up a large portion of the three day tuna diet have very little if any nutritional value. Food cravings are increased when you have so few calories but have breads and sugars. The reason for this is that there is a hike in the production of insulin when we eat these carbs.
When you decide to use low calorie diets like this diet you are setting yourself up for food cravings. Even if you do make it through the three days every week, you are likely to consume unhealthy foods during the four day period, in which you are free to eat what you want. Studies done as far back as the 1970s, show that the average dieter will ultimately gain up to eight pounds in the weeks after the diet.
7. In the long run you set yourself up for huge weight gains:
There are various diets that are geared towards weight loss. Some of these diets can be good ways to lose weight while others focus on eliminating healthy foods and calories. The 3 day tuna diet may drop pounds in the beginning but in the end you will most likely gain the weight back you lost and more.
As you can see, it really is no good setting yourself up for a lifetime of problems. In my youth I followed many of these kinds of diets and I am still paying the price today. For you young ones it may sound lik
